With the Brew Recipe Calculator you can can create a complete beer recipe or edit an existing one. It calculates the grain bill, the mash and boil procedure, the hop additions and the fermentation.

All presets of the program are calculated for a typical five gallon batch, but you can change them any time. The calculation model should be suiteable for any size home batches up to professional batches of up to several hundred liters.

After any change the recipe is immediately newly calculated and displayed. This way you can approach your target step by step.

Profiles

A new feature of this version are user profiles. They contain presets for values like batch size or efficiency. Via the menu item “Recipes → User Profiles” you can create any number of profiles and later assign them using the calculator’s profile selector. You should select the profile already when you start working on a recipe, because the profile eventually overwrites existing values.

Comparison to the BJCP Style Guide

If you want to brew a beer stisfying the BJCP Guidelines for the style, you should fist select the beer style in the “General” tab. Later, the calculated values are compared to the style guide on the “Results” tab.

Units

You can work with metric or american units. On many Fields you can select the unit type by clicking on the unit field - the value will be automatically converted.

Additionally you can change all units of the recipe at once by selecting “metric” or “us” from the “unit” selector on the general tab. This way you can enter an american recipe having us units and convert the complete recipe to metric units (or vice versa).

Saving a Recipe in the Database

Only registered users can save their recipes in the database and/or publish them. As a guest user you can only edit the recipe as long as you are online.

The recipe is stored in the database using the “Store” or “Store and Close” button at the bottom of the recipe form. Before, you have to specify at least the recipe’s name.

Edit and Copy stored Recipes

Export a Recipe

Delete a Recipe
